The NYS Medicaid Program offers "special help" to help pay the premiums, co-payments and deductibles of the Medicare Program. These are known as the "Buy-In" programs. All Medicaid applicants are screened to see if they are eligible for the any of these subsides.

Medicare Savings Program:

Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) Program

Individual monthly income limits for this program change each year.

Program helps pay for:
Part A premiums
Part B premiums
Deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments

Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB) Program

Program helps pay for:
Part B premiums only

Qualifying Individual (QI) Program

Individual monthly income limit to qualify for this benefit change each year

Program helps pay for:
Part B premiums only

Qualified Disabled and Working Individuals (QDWI) Program

Individual monthly income limit for this program change each year*

Program helps pay for:
Part A premiums only

*There is NO RESOURCE TESTING FOR ANY MEDICARE SAVINGS PROGRAMS = there is no limit on the amount of assets you may have.
